Biography

Photograph of Clare Bacciochi and Clayton Flick

Clare Louise Bacciochi, born March 15, 1969, was described by her father as "too good to last, she was loving, caring, unselfish, and on top of all this she was so beautiful. Clare was always someone other people could share their problems with and get some help from her warm personality. Her headstone reads 'she gave nineteen years of love and happiness.'"

Clayton Lee Flick, born February 23, 1963, was the fourth child of Harry and Jean, and the brother of Barry, Tracy, and Kerry. Clayton loved sports and excelled in all endeavors. He represented his school, city, and country in soccer, rugby, cricket, and basketball. Clayton received many awards and trophies for his accomplishments. He was also a bright scholar, achieving three 'A' levels and admittance to Roehampton College at the University of London. Clayton graduated with honors in the fields of Economics and Business Studies. Following graduation, he returned to Coventry and opened his own business in March of 1988.

Clare and Clayton met only nine months before they died in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. They were engaged on November 5, 1988, and Clayton promised Clare a three-day trip to New York City. They called Clare's parents before boarding the plane, Clare talked about how excited she was, and told her father, "Dad, I love you." Clare and Clayton were buried together near the church at which they were to be married.
