Eleanor "Ellie" Ludwig was an alumna of Syracuse University who taught mathematics at University College and was director of Alumni Relations at Syracuse University. She earned her B.A. in 1943 and her master's degree in 1945. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity and remained involved after her time as a student, serving as treasurer of the Chi Corporation from 1946 to 1995.
Ludwig was heavily involved with alumni organizations. She served as director of the Office of Alumni Relations for over 20 years and remained involved in the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Central New York after retirement. Ludwig received the Outstanding Alumni Award in 1973, the Arents Pioneer Medal in 1990, and the Eggers Award in 2005. In 1974 she was cited as the Post-Standard's Woman of Achievement for Citizenship.
The Eleanor A. Ludwig Papers spans from 1943 to 1993 with a majority of materials from the early 1970s. The collection includes pages of a scrapbook, which were removed from their binder for preservation, documenting Ludwig's accomplishments and community involvement from 1953 to 1975. Also included in the collection are Ludwig's diplomas, certificates of achievement and photographs of her at events.
Please note that the collection is housed off-site, and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room on campus.
