Historical Note

The Society for College Science Teachers (SCST) is an interdisciplinary organization committed to the study and advancement of college science teaching. The group was founded in 1987 and is still in existence with over 800 members worldwide. It is an affiliate of the National Science Teachers Association but is geared towards the teaching of undergraduate science courses. The SCST website can be found here.

Scope and Content Note

The Society for College Science Teachers (SCST) Collection covers the years 1979 to 2010. The documents range from programs and abstracts printed for conferences to publications sponsored by the organization and created by its members. The collection also contains correspondence from 1979 to 2008. Member directories, reports and minutes of various committees, including the board of directors, and the society newsletter are also included. The collection also includes items relating to the society’s silver anniversary, bi-laws and constitution, and items from the National Science Teachers Association.
