Syracuse University Press was founded in 1943 by Chancellor William Pearson Tolley as a means to publish and disseminate scholarly research and to extend the University’s reach and academic reputation. The Press has gained national and international acclaim by publishing award-winning and ground-breaking books. With more than 1,700 titles in print, the Press supports the central mission of the University to teach, to support research initiatives, and to disseminate scholarship.The Press seeks to produce rigorously edited, beautifully designed, and critically acclaimed books in specialized areas.
Syracuse University Press Publications is made up of books printed by the Press. Publications mostly cover specialized areas, including New York State, Middle East Studies, Judaica, Irish Studies, Native American Studies, Television and Popular Culture, Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Sports and Entertainment. This collection comprises a copy of record of what the Press publishes, beginning with its first publications in the mid-1940s through to the present.
Please note that the collection is housed off-site, and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room on campus.
School, college and department records are restricted to the office of origin for 30 years. Requests to use restricted records must be obtained in writing from the office of origin.
