Spring 2025 Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The records for the Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) submitted by the Graduate School for May 2025 Graduations have been processed and loaded into SURFACE, Syracuse University’s Institutional Repository. These include 131 submissions from 47 different departments, including:

Spring also marked the first entries to SURFACE for the Department of Film and Media Arts following a change in the requirements for graduate programs in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA).
In Spring 2025:
- Eighty (80) dissertations were submitted and their records are available at: https://surface.syr.edu/etd/.
- Seventy-three (73) dissertations were submitted as Open Access (OA) publications, fifty-four (54) of which are currently available for download on SURFACE. Nineteen (19) additional dissertations will be available after an embargo period.
- Seven (7) additional dissertations were submitted but are only available by subscription through ProQuest, though their records are available in SURFACE.
- The OA rate for dissertations this spring exceeded 91%.
- Fifty-one (51) graduate theses were submitted and their records are available at https://surface.syr.edu/thesis/.
- Fifty-one theses were submitted as OA publications, fifty (50) of which are currently available for download on SURFACE. One (1) additional theses will be available after an embargo period.
- The OA rate for theses was over 100%.
- The overall OA rate for all dissertations and theses was approximately 95%.
