Biographical History
Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909) was a popular Victorian era English poet, playwright, novelist, and critic.
Scope and Contents of the Collection
The B.B. Falk Scrapbook on Algernon Charles Swinburne is a single volume containing clippings of poems and other items by Swinburne, the noted British poet. The volume was evidently compiled by a Mr. B.B. Falk. Laid in is a note from John S. Mayfield ("JSM") listing 12 items that he removed from the scrapbook and put "in separate envelope." No envelope was found with the volume, and the fate of these items is unknown.
The leather on the spine is suffering from red rot and may stain hands or clothing. Handle with care.
