Josef Goradza (1933-2008) was a German-American photographer and later Ramakrishna monk. Born in Silesia, Germany, Goradza came to the United States in 1953. He became an American citizen and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1973 he joined the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York as a monastic member, taking the name Brahmachari Sadashiva Chaitanya.
The Josef Goradza Collection consists of several hundred black and white photographs. Many are of individuals, of New York street scenes or of nature (flowers, leaves, etc.). Unfortunately none of the photographs are identified.
The collection also includes contact sheets, photographs of the work of artists Ezio Martinelli and some personal photographs, with a few negatives and color transparencies.
No particular order.
