Thomas "Tom" Joseph Ammerman was a 1974 graduate of Villanova, and a marketing manager for the shipping firm United States Navigation Co., Inc. He was returning home after a three day business trip. Tom was survived by his wife, Carolyn Mater Ammerman, and his two daughters, Casey and Jill. He also left behind his mother, Margaret McLoughlin Ammerman; two brothers, Herbert J. Jr. and Robert; and two sisters, Mary Anne Lumley and Catherine Barry. Tom was predeceased by his father, who passed in August of 1988.
Tom was described as "an interior sort of man. There was a quietness, an inner calm
and depth of being about him that enable him to be very responsive to people and
supportive of them in their needs."
The Thomas Joseph Ammerman Family Papers consists of photographs and a presentation related to the bombing and crash of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The photographs include several images of the Lockerbie, Scotland crash site of Pan Am Flight 103. These photographs feature both the damage caused to the town of Lockerbie, as well as wreckage of the Clipper Maid of the Seas. The presentation was given by Bert Ammerman, Tom's brother, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the bombing.
