Frank Ciulla (1943-1988) was among the 270 victims of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988. Frank lived in Park Ridge, New Jersey with his family. A certified public accountant as well as vice president and chief financial officer of Chase Capital Markets, he had been assigned to the United Kingdom until March of 1989. His family had already returned to the United States, and Frank was flying home for Christmas before concluding his work in London.
Described by a friend as "a lover not a fighter," Frank was admired for his honesty
and candor, his understanding of people, and his ability to make them laugh. He was
adventurous and lively; a business and sports enthusiast who was aggressive and
competitive in a positive way. Frank demonstrated strength of character and confidence
in himself that allowed him not only to succeed in life, but to enjoy it as well.
The Frank Ciulla Family Papers contain two copies of Memories of Frank, a printed and bound book of photographs and remembrances prepared by family and friends of Frank Ciulla for his widow, Mary Lou Ciulla. Also included is a copy of Letters of Note: An Eclectic Collection of Correspondence Deserving of a Wider Audience, which contains a letter from the Connell Family of Waterbeck, Scotland to the Ciulla Family. Frank Ciulla's body came to rest on Hugh and Margaret Connell's land, Minsca Farm. Included with this book are a transcript of Frank Ciulla's son's interview on National Public Radio's All Things Considered, and a newspaper article about the relationship of the Connell and Ciulla families.
