Andrew McClune (1984-2002) was a Lockerbie Scholar studying at Syracuse University during the 2002-2003 academic year. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC and hoped to fly for the British Royal Air Force. Andrew was also a founding member and captain of the Syracuse University curling team. Andrew died as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic fall from Syracuse University's Sadler Hall, a student residence hall, in December of the 2002 fall semester.
The Andrew McClune Collection contains materials related to Andrew McClune, a 2002-2003 Lockerbie Scholar at Syracuse University. The collection is divided into the following series:
Clippings consists of newspaper clippings related to Andrew's time as a student at both Lockerbie Academy and Syracuse University, and his death.
Correspondence contains letters and sympathy cards from Andrew's family, friends, and faculty.
Memorials consists of materials that honor Andrew's life, both in Lockerbie and Syracuse. This series contains a banner from Sadler Hall with farewell messages to Andrew and a photograph of a plaque in his honor at Tennity Ice Pavilion at Syracuse University. Also included are recordings of memorial services and tributes for Andrew.
Photographs contains photographs of Andrew and his family.
Subject files consists of Andrew's death certificate, and materials realted to the McClune family's trip to Syracuse after Andrew's death.
Writings consists of Andrew's application letter for the Lockerbie Scholars program and his speech from the 2002 Rose Laying Ceremony, as a well as a recording of a class presentation he delivered.
