Biography

Photograph of Tom McCulloch

Detective Chief Superintendent Tom McCulloch was an Inspector with the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary in 1988. He was the Senior Investigating Officer of the Lockerbie Inquiry, and arrested Al-Megrahi and Fhimah. He was present at the criminal trial at Camp Zeist in the Netherlands, where his responsibilities including overseeing the policing of the compound. Tom worked on the Pan Am 103 case until his retirement in 2001.

Scope and Content Note

The Tom McCulloch Papers contain photographs, printed materials, and presentations related to McCulloch's work regarding the Lockerbie bombing inquiry and trial of Al-Megrahi and Fhimah. The photographs include five aerial images of Camp Zeist. Printed materials consist of a photocopied newspaper cartoon depicting the arrest of Al-Megrahi and Fhimah, and a copy of the fall 2001 Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce in which McCulloch's presentation to the International Terrorism, Victims' Rights, and the Lockerbie Criminal Trial symposium, held at the Syracuse University College of Law, is printed. Also included is a recorded webcast about the disaster.
