It consists of the Remembrance Wall, a semi-circular structure made of limestone and granite, where the names of the 35 Syracuse University students who died on Pan Am Flight 103 are seen, and a circular stone bench that displays a plaque to Paula and Glenn Bouckley a couple from Clay, NY who were on Flight 103. This Place of Remembrance is directly behind the gateway to campus on the esplanade leading to the Hall of Languages. The memorial was later restored in 2012-2013, in time for the University's Remembrance Week activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the bombing. The Remembrance Scholarships were established at Syracuse University in 1989, with the first group of scholars being selected for the 1990-1991 academic year. The scholarships were established in memory of the 35 students enrolled in the Division of International Programs Abroad who were killed onboard Pan Am Flight 103. The Syracuse-Lockerbie Scholarship program was established in 1989 and the first students were enrolled in the fall of 1990. This program provides two students from the Lockerbie Academy, a high school in Lockerbie, Scotland, the chance to study for one year at Syracuse University.Scope and Content NoteThe Pan Am 103 Slide Collection consists of six folders of color slides of images from the April 22, 1990 dedication of the Place of Remembrance, the 1998 class of Remembrance Scholars, portraits of two Lockerbie Scholars, and photographs of the installation of Dark Elegy on the Syracuse University campus.
