Historical Note
The Gamma Psi chapter of Sigma Nu was established at Syracuse University in 1906. The fraternity was an off campus chapter from 1970-1988 and recolonized in fall of 1988. Gamma Psi has leased and owned multiple houses over the years including 903 University Avenue, 212 Euclid Avenue, 200 Walnut Place, 724 Comstock Avenue, and 801 Walnut Place. The Syracuse University chapter was selected as one of the first 16 Sigma Nu chapters to participate in the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation's LEAD program. Gamma Psi received the "Outstanding New Fraternity Award" in 1991 and the "New Member Education Program Award" in 1993. The alumni chapter of Gamma Psi was organized in 1989.
Scope and Content Note
The Sigma Nu (Syracuse University Chapter) Records consist of memorabilia, membership information, published work on the history of the fraternity, and photographs.
