Biographical History

Albert Lawrence Baner was born in Quinton, New Jersey to Gilbert E. Baner and Georgeanna Lawrence in
1896. Baner began his ministry in 1924 when he was ordained
a deacon in the Methodist Church and was appointed as an ordained elder in 1926.
Over the next nineteen years, Baner served and directed several Methodist congregations throughout New Jersey.
In 1945, he transferred to The Central New York Conference and became affiliated with the First Methodist Church in Syracuse, New York,
where he served for twenty-seven years before returning to New Jersey upon retirement.

In June 1925 Baner married Phebe Lore Sharpe. They had two children, Jennie
Lore Evans and Albert Lawrence Baner Jr. Baner died in 1984 at the age of eighty-eight.
