<p>The <emph render="bold">Cornelius Haring Account Book</emph> contains financial records of a number of different enterprises managed by Haring. The majority of the book contains the records of a general store spanning 1771 to 1774. These records contain names of customers, lists of items purchased, prices, and dates of payment. </p><p>The account book also includes other records kept by Haring, many of unclear origin or purpose. For instance, there are six pages of "an account of provisions and forridge(?) by Cornelius Haring contractor(?) -- delivered to the Continental Agents for Bergen County 1780."</p><p>Later, the account book was also used as a scrapbook, and several back pages have been pasted over with newspaper clippings concerning events from the 1890s and 1900s, such as the assassination of William McKinley.</p>
