Harry Summerfield Hoff (1910-2002) was an English author who published under the pseudonym William Cooper. He was best known for his "Scenes" series of semi-autobiographical novels.
The William Cooper Typescript consists of an eight-page typed document with corrections. The typescript, entitled "The Story of William Cooper's Scenes," discusses the surpression of Hoff's novel Scenes from Metropolitan Life due to a libel lawsuit.
The collection also contains a signed, typed letter from Hoff dated 4 March 1982 and addressed to "Dear David." In the letter, Hoff explains that the enclosed document will explain the delayed publication of Scenes from Metropolitan Life.
