Biographical History

Elkanah Jones (1761-1849) was born in Hebron, Connecticut. A cabinet maker by trade, he served as a private during the American Revolution and kept detailed diaries of his experiences during the war and for many years afterwards. He never married, and lived his last years with his niece Abigail and her husband Jonathan Goldsmith in Painesville, Ohio.
