DeWitt Clinton (1769-1828) was an American politician and naturalist. He served three terms as Mayor of New York City and was Governor of New York from 1817 to 1822. The Erie Canal was constructed during his tenure as governor.
Nothing is known of Matthew Moody, other than that he served in the 155th New York Infantry.
The Matthew Moody Commission consists of a single item, Matthew Moody's commission as Surgeon's Mate of the 155th New York Infantry, signed by the Governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton.
