Biographical History
Nothing is known of Celestia Wilson other than the information contained in these letters. She evidently lived, or was living at the time of writing, in or near Syracuse, New York. The letters are addressed to Caroline Stewart, Summerhill, Cayuga County, New York.
Scope and Contents of the Collection
The Celestia Wilson Correspondence consists of two letters from Wilson to her friend Caroline F. Stewart. The letters are personal in nature and include mention of Wilson's activities, updates on mutual friends, inquiries after family members, and so on. The first letter mentions Wilson having heard a sermon from Rev. Samuel J. May (1797-1871) in Syracuse.
