James Ralph Fuller was a native of Boston, Massachusetts, and a graduate of Northeastern University. He received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and, at the time of his death, was vice-president of Volkswagen United States, Inc. Before working for Volkswagen Jim had held executive positions at Ford Motor Company and Renault USA. He was survived by his wife, Georgann; his daughter, Stacey; and his son, Christopher.
Jim was a man who possessed a very keen mind, someone with great sensitivity to his
fellow humans, which manifested itself in many ways with family, friends, colleagues,
and business associates. He was a leader in industry, and supported causes in which he
believed with equal vigor. He supported Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and ensured
they had the support of Volkswagen.
The James Ralph Fuller Papers contain series for Clippings, Correspondence, Photographs, Subject Files, and Memorabilia related to James Fuller, killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The Subject Files series contains eulogies of Jim, a listing of his personal effects from Flight 103, materials related to the James R. Fuller Memorial Scholarship Fund at Northeastern University, and items pertaining to Fuller's work with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). The Memorabilia series contains a recognition plaque awarded to Fuller by MADD.
