Affiliated with the College of Visual and Performing Art, the School of Art and Design was established in 1992. The first director was Tom Sherman. In 2015, the School of Art and Design was separated to form the School of Art and School of Design respectively. The first director of the School of Art is Stephanie James and the first director of School of Design is James Fathers.
The Syracuse University School of Art and Design Records comprise various materials which document its history. The records include faculty minutes, general records, committee records, bulletins, printed materials, slides, scrapbooks, and correspondence.
The collection is currently unprocessed and not available for research. School, college and department records are restricted to the office of origin for 30 years.
Written permission must be obtained from the Syracuse University Archives and all relevant rights holders before publishing quotations, excerpts or images from any materials in this collection.
