Biography
Warren R. Bonney (1923-2016) was a Syracuse University alumnus. Born on July 20, 1923, Bonney was a well-known athlete in the north country of New York. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the New York State College of Forestry and a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity and the Syracuse University ski team, he began as a freshman in 1941 and left after the spring of 1943 to enlist in the U.S. Naval Forces during World War II. Bonney served in the Pacific arena where he became one of the youngest ship officers in the Philippines, New Caledonia and Japan. He left the military as a decorated Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1946, returning to Syracuse to complete his undergraduate studies. Bonney graduated as a member of the Class of 1948. He later married fellow Syracuse alumna Margaret McArthur and the couple operated Bonney Realty together for fifty years.
