Lester M. Bridgeman (1923-2014) was an antitrust lawyer and an alumnus of Syracuse University. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and first attended Syracuse University as a student at the New York State College of Forestry. In 1942, Bridgeman left the University to enlist in the Army. During his time in the military, he attended Louisiana State University. He later volunteered for combat duty and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from service, Bridgeman re-enrolled at Syracuse University as a student at the College of Liberal Arts (now the College of Arts and Sciences) and graduated in 1948 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. During his time as a student, he was a member of the political science honorary society Pi Sigma Rho, the American Society for Public Administration, and the United Nations Association of Syracuse University. After graduating, Bridgeman attended Columbia Law School and graduated with his law degree in 1951. He went on to pursue a career in antitrust law and commercial litigation.
The Lester M. Bridgeman Papers consist of materials collected during Bridgeman’s time as a student at Syracuse University as both a student in the College of Forestry and the College of Arts and Sciences. These materials include a New York State College of Forestry patch, a song sheet for freshman forestry students, and a ticket to the 1948 Senior Ball. Also present are tickets to the 1948 commencement ceremony and Bridgeman's diploma.
