Joyce Brown (1929-2025) was an alumna of Syracuse University. She grew up in Fayetteville, New York, and graduated from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in 1952 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. As a student, Brown was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority and the Women’s Recreation Association. She also served in student government as a member of the Freshman Executive Council and the Sophomore Assembly. During and after her college career, Brown worked closely with Syracuse University’s international student population, helping them adapt to living in the United States by organizing social events and outings. After graduating, she went on to a career teaching horseback riding and dressage.
