Biography
John R. Campbell (1883-1956) was a Syracuse University alumnus and Presbyterian pastor. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Campbell attended Syracuse University from 1908 to 1913, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees in that time period. While on campus, he was a member of the philosophy honorary society Theta Beta Phi, the Commons Club, the Senior Council, Y.M.C.A., and multiple other organizations. He also met his wife, Rosalie M. Slocum, at Syracuse University, as she had been studying in the School of Library Science at that time. After attending Syracuse University, Campbell studied at the Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1916. He led various congregations across northern New York in towns like Tupper Lake, Liverpool, and Dexter. At the time of his death, Campbell was the pastor at the Northville Presbyterian Church in Northville, New York.

The John R. Campbell Scrapbook was created during Campbell's time as a student at Syracuse University. It contains a variety of materials such as clippings, correspondence, class schedules, football tickets, photographs, event programs, and student handbooks.
