The local chapter of Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha was founded at Syracuse University in 1964 and is currently inactive. Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha is a national forensics honor society for speech and debate that formed when Delta Sigma Rho and Tau Kappa Alpha merged in 1963. Syracuse University had a chapter of Delta Sigma Rho that began in 1909, although it is unclear how long it lasted at Syracuse University.
The original charter for Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha at Syracuse University authorizes a chapter to be founded at the University and was signed on August 18, 1964. It is signed by both the national president and national secretary of the organization.

Arthur Hunt from the Syracuse University Department of Communications and Rhetorical Studies transferred the charter to the Archives in 2010.
The charter was removed from the original frame and placed in an archival box for preservation.
