Kenneth Gallagher (d. 1987) attended Syracuse University from 1919 to 1923 where he majored in agriculture. While at Syracuse University he was involved with both football and crew, earning the distinction of lettering in crew. He was also a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity and the campus agricultural club.
This collection consists of materials dated from 1918 to 1957. Materials include photographs, a diary entry, a page from a book, a newsletter, pages from the Onondagan, and a crew program. Content of the materials focuses heavily on Gallagher’s time at Syracuse University, and specifically on crew. Photographs from the collection are largely of Gallagher, his teammates, and crew coach James A. Ten Eyck. The diary entry was written by Gallagher in his early years at Syracuse University, and in it he writes about his classes and crew, among other things.
Please note that the collection is housed off-site, and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room on campus.
Written permission must be obtained from the Syracuse University Archives and all relevant rights holders before publishing quotations, excerpts or images from any materials in this collection.
Newspaper clippings were removed and placed in the Syracuse University Clipping Files. A photograph of Coach Ten Eyck was removed and placed in the Portrait Collection.
The University Archives also holds a collection on rowing coach James Ten Eyck, the James A. Ten Eyck Collection.
