Margaret Gleason (1927-2013) was an illustrator and 1949 graduate of Syracuse University.
Gleason was originally from Groton, New York. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University after studying illustration and participating in various activities and organizations. Gleason was a member of the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society in Architecture and Allied Arts, the International Women’s Association, Methodist fellowship, Tambourine & Bones, and Campus Chest during her time as a student.
In 1950 she married Ed S. Hill and moved to Dryden, New York. She worked as an English and math textbook illustrator and provided piano and guitar lessons for young students.
The Margaret Gleason Papers comprise original artwork in various media, including drawings, etching, painting, calligraphy, and scratchboard. The pieces in the collection are assumed to be from her time at Syracuse University because many of the pieces have a grade or evaluation written on them.
Please note that the collection is housed off-site, and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room on campus.
