Biography
Arthur McDonald is an emeritus professor of architecture at Syracuse University School of Architecture.
McDonald joined the faculty in 1974 and was at the University for over 40 years before retiring in 2015. During his time at the University, he was the head of the School of Architecture's undergraduate program from 1982 to 1989, chair of the graduate program from 1996 to 2002, and interim dean from 2002 to 2004.
Before joining the faculty of Syracuse University, McDonald was an architect in New York City with Ulrich Franzen & Associates. Since his retirement, he has continued his work as an architect in the Syracuse area.
Scope and Content Note
The Arthur McDonald Papers consists of materials submitted by McDonald for tenure review. These materials document his work as a professor at Syracuse University. The collection is divided into two series:
Correspondence contains a letter from a former student and an invitation to a reception event sent to McDonald.
Course Materials contains work related to courses taught by McDonald. This includes syllabi, assignment directions, architectural drawings, student work, and photographs and slides of student projects.
