Howard Boatwright (1918-1999) was an American composer, violinist and musicologist. He served as Dean of the school of music at Syracuse University, and taught composition and theory. Under his leadership the music school became an important center for composition and the performance of new music, introduced non-Western music to the curriculum, and expanded its early music programs by acquiring collections of antique instruments. He was a Fulbright lecturer in India (1959-1960) and received a Fulbright grant to study in Romania (1971-1972). He also wrote extensively on music theory, ethnomusicology, Charles Ives, and Paul Hindemith.
The Howard Boatwright Collection contains compositions by the American composer, violinist and musicologist, as well as a sizable number of commercial recordings of his work.
Compositions are arranged alphabetically by title.
