Biographical History

Kenneth Neill Cameron was a literary critic and Percy Bysshe Shelley biographer and scholar. He was the author of Romantic rebels; essays on Shelley and his circle, Shelley: the golden years, Young Shelley; genesis of a radical, and editor of Shelley and his circle, 1773-1822 and The Esdaile notebook; a volume of early poems.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Kenneth Cameron Manuscripts consists of two typewritten manuscripts, entitled Poems / Old and New and Poems / Social and Personal / Old and New. The two volumes have some of the same poems but not all; the 1967 manuscript includes a preface in which Cameron explains how he came to put the manuscript together.

These may be early manuscript versions of poems published later in Poems for Lovers and Rebels (Squibnocket Press, 1977).
