Biographical History

Major General Stanley W. Jones attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and received his law degree from the University of Virginia. He served in World War II in France, Holland and Germany, and by 1954 he attained the rank of brigadier general. In 1957, during his service as assistant Judge Advocate General for military justice, he was promoted to major general. In 1961 he was reassigned as Chief of the Army Audit Agency where he served until 1965. Over the course of his career he received numerous awards and commendations, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal, and the Belgian Croix de Guerre.


Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Stanley W. Jones Papers consists of itineraries, articles by Jones, and clippings about him. The material largely relates to three visits Jones made as Chief of the Army Audit Agency (Hawaii, Japan, and Korea) in January of 1962.

Clippings are arranged chronologically. Other material is arranged alphabetically.
