Warren Kimble (1935- ) is a nationally-renowned folk artist, entrepreneur, and member of the Syracuse University Class of 1957.
Warren Kimble earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University's School of Art (now the College of Visual and Performing Arts) in 1957. While a student he was a cheerleader and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. After an early career in advertising, he taught in public schools and later was a member the art faculty at Castleton State College in Vermont. Kimble pursued his love of painting in 1983 and subsequently found success as a contemporary folk artist. Also a successful home furnishings designer, he has designed images that have been transformed into items such as dinnerware, rugs, furniture, and textiles.
Kimble has been an enthusiastic alumnus of Syracuse University. The University awarded him the George Arents Pioneer Medal, the highest alumni honor, in 2002 and the Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Award in 2017. He received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Green Mountain College in Vermont. Kimble lives and works in Brandon, Vermont, with Lorraine, his wife and business partner.
The Warren Kimble Memorabilia comprises primarily materials relating to Syracuse University alumni reunions. A mug, banner, scrapbook and beanie pertain to the Class of 1957, of which Kimble is a part. There is also a megaphone signed by alumni cheerleaders and a banner designed by Kimble.
