Biography

Alan M. Miller (b. 1934) graduated from Syracuse University in 1955 with a liberal arts degree, majoring in Pre-Law and English. He graduated from the College of Law in 1958. As an undergraduate, he was an active member of the Beta Sigma Rho fraternity. He also participated in additional extracurricular activities on campus such as the Goon Squad, Interfraternity Council, Campus Chest, and the WAER radio station.

Since graduating, Alan Miller has gone on to become an award-winning author and media personality.


Scope and Content Note

The Alan M. Miller Memorabilia Collection dates from 1951-1955 and consists of two beanies, including a blue and orange beanie worn by freshmen and a blue and yellow beanie worn by Beta Sigma Rho pledges. There are four Syracuse University publications, primarily for first year students, and a 1952 dedication program for the opening of the Robert Shaw Dormitory. The collection also includes a Syracuse University button and two Goon Squad buttons.

Materials were housed in acid-free folders and an acid-free box. The beanies have been wrapped in tissue paper.
