Phi Kappa Alpha was founded in 1897 as a senior society for men at Syracuse University. The fraternity's first members were Charlie Cooney, Bill Groat, Robert Adams, George Bond, Bill Nichols, Mark Heiman, Albert Larkin and Maurice Fikes. In 1913, brothers voted to keep the fraternity strictly on the campus of Syracuse University. The fraternity inducted eight rising seniors each year who they considered the most influential men for that graduating class.
The collection spans from 1903 to 1961 and includes publications and other historical information about the fraternity. In the collection are a dance card, materials from the 50th anniversary in 1947 as well as materials from the anniversary in 1957. Also in the collection are membership records and ephemera related to the fraternity, its members and activities.
