Biography

Edgar Foster Piper (1875-1971) was a Methodist minister and an alumnus of Syracuse University. He grew up in northern Pennsylvania and attended Williamsport Dickinson Seminary prior to enrolling at Syracuse University in 1897. During his college career, Piper played on his class baseball team and served as the assistant manager for the University's varsity baseball team. He was active in student journalism and was a member and later the president of the Press Club. He served as an associate editor for the student journal University Forum, as the associate managing editor for University Weekly, and as the editor-in-chief of the 1901 Onondagan. Piper was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity, as well as Phi Kappa Alpha, a senior honorary society, Theta Nu Epsilon, a sophomore honorary society, and Beta Delta Beta, a freshman honorary society. After graduating from Syracuse University with his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, Piper attended Drew Theological Seminary and later became a Methodist minister.
