Nathaniel “Nat” Holman Rhodes (1939-2024) was a student at Syracuse University and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1960. While he was a student, Rhodes was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and served on the Hendricks Chapel Board and as the co-chairman of the Chapel Ushers. He was also a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers; Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honorary society; and Eta Kappa Nu, an electrical engineering honor society. After graduating, Rhodes went on to serve as a second lieutenant with the U.S. Army Transportation Material Command. After his military service, he worked as a technical writer, electrical engineer and computer programmer.
The Nathaniel Holman Rhodes Slides contain photographic film slides of images concerning student life at Syracuse University, including photographs of campus buildings and events, glee club performances, football games, the Spring Weekend float parade and pageant, an ROTC review, and a concert given by the Kingston Trio. Also present are slides of student traditions, including the Sigma Nu fraternity's entries into the annual Winter Carnival ice sculpture contest and the Colgate Weekend poster competition.
