Justus Moak Scrafford (1878-1947) was a Syracuse University alumnus and associate professor of architecture. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1902, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the University's track team. In 1900, Scrafford was recognized as a member of the Intercollegiate Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) and competed in the Paris Summer Olympics alongside other members of the Syracuse University track team. He competed in the 800 meters, but did not make it to the final.
After graduation, Scrafford worked in New York City at Trowbridge & Livingston architectural firm, before studying at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. He then returned to Syracuse University, where he joined the faculty in 1909 as associate professor of architectural design and freehand drawing. In addition to teaching, Scrafford worked as an architect on several projects throughout Syracuse, including St. Philip's Episcopal Church on Almond Street, which has since been torn down.
The Justus Moak Scrafford Papers consists of two architectural drawings, most likely made when he was a student at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.
