Ruby Spear (later Page) (1891-1983) was an alumna of Syracuse University from Brocton, New York. She graduated from the Teacher's College at Syracuse University in 1916 with a specialization in art. Spear was a member of the Women's League and the Y.W.C.A. during her time on campus. After graduation, she went on to work as an art teacher at Mayville Central School in Mayville, New York.
The Ruby Spear Papers consist of materials collected by Spear during her time as a student at Syracuse University from 1912-1916. These materials include items concerning social life and student activities, such as invitations, programs, dance cards, and ticket stubs, as well as souvenir materials from student traditions such as novelty spoons from “Baby Parties” thrown by the sophomore class for the incoming freshmen. The collection also includes documents concerning student life such as invoices and applications for student room and board, a student handbook, a Women's League rules and regulations pamphlet, and advertising material for the campus bookstore.
