Robert E. Stone (1891-1971) was a professor of business law at Syracuse University. He received his B.A. in 1916 and J.D. in 1924 from the University of California, Berkley, and his D.C.S. from Harvard in 1939. Stone was assistant professor of law at Berkley from 1927 to 1941 and then went on to work for the Office of Price Administration in Washington, D.C. In 1946, he was appointed professor of business law at Syracuse University, and later became dean of the College of Business Administration in 1950. Stone resigned in 1954 to become American co-director of the Institute of Business Administration in Istanbul. While at Syracuse University, he served on the University Senate and was a member of the Frank H. Hiscock Legal Aid Society, the New York State Bar Association, and the Onondaga County Bar Association.
The Robert E. Stone Papers span from 1931 to 1950 and include a variety of materials related to World War II transportation rationing and business. The collection is made up of correspondence, memoranda, press releases, notes, statistics, and manuscripts. Additionally there are subject files, reports, speeches, printed materials, and files from the Office of Price Administration.
