Syracuse Stage, a nonprofit, professional theatre company in residence, was founded by Arthur Storch in 1974. The company grew out of the pre-existing Syracuse Repertory Theatre, which was founded in the mid-1960s. Each season Syracuse Stage co-produces a show with the Department of Drama of Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Syracuse Stage Scripts spans from 1967 to 2010. The collection contains different types of scripts including production scripts, director scripts, and prompt scripts. The scripts are from a variety of theater productions including the plays of Shakespeare, musicals, classics of theater cannon, and more modern plays.

School, college and department records are restricted to the office of origin for 30 years. Requests to use restricted records must be obtained in writing from the office of origin.

The University Archives also holds the Syracuse University Drama Department Records, the Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts Records, the Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts Office of the Dean Records, and the Syracuse Stage Records. Recordings of select Syracuse Stage productions can be found in the Archives' Syracuse University Video Production Unit Media. Additional materials related to the Syracuse Repertory Theatre can be found in the University College at Syracuse University Office of the Dean Records.
