University College at Syracuse University is an institution for adult education and continuing education. Syracuse University started to offer summer classes to part-time students in 1902 and evening classes were added in 1918. The program was reorganized into University College in 1946. Kenneth Bartlett, who had been acting director from 1943 to 1946, was the first dean of University College. Between 1951 and 1954, three off-campus graduate centers were founded at Rome, Endicott-Oswego, and Poughkeepsie-Kingston. In 1947, University College resided in Peck Hall, but as the program grew, the College moved to Reid Hall, located at 610 East Fayette Street, in 1957. University College is now housed, including its administration, student service offices, and classrooms, at 700 University Avenue.
