The Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management provides multidisciplinary education focusing on business and management. The predecessor of the Whitman School of Management was the School of Business Administration, established in 1919 and reorganized into the College of Business Administration in 1921. The first dean of the College of Business Administration was John Herman Warton. The College was dispersed in different buildings early on, including Slocum Hall and Lubin Hall. In 1971, the College of Business Administration was renamed the School of Management. In 1983, Crouse-Hinds Hall, funded by a donation from the Crouse Hinds Foundation, was constructed, enabling the School to be located in one building. In 2003, the School was bestowed with a naming gift from Martin Whitman ’49 and Lois Whitman. The Whitman School of Management's new building was completed in 2005.
The Syracuse University Whitman School of Management Records comprise various materials which document the history of the School. The records include office files, correspondence, faculty meeting minutes, plaques, faculty files, building construction files, faculty research papers, photographs, publications, and bulletins.
