Biographical History
Myra Scovel (1905-1994) was an American nurse and missionary for the United Presbyterian Church for more than thirty years. She and her husband, Dr. Frederick Gilman Scovel, were assigned to missions in China (1930-1951) and India (1953-1961). She was also a writer and poet.
Scope and Contents of the Collection
The Myra Scovel Manuscripts consists of undated typescript draft and final draft with revisions of The Chinese Ginger Jars, her autobiographical work on her experiences during her missionary life in China.
