image 5: Concrete block
work.
The view shows block work being laid up at an exterior column adjacent to openings which will receive a louver assembly. The block work in most cases can be laid without scaffolding, utilizing the floor plates as a staging area. Note the galvanized pour stop at the second floor slab and the scaffold extension around the column. The steel hangers at the end girders and above the openings (blue) will receive a galvanized shelf angle to carry the face brick. These have an epoxy paint coating to prevent rusting in this isolated part of the exterior wall assembly. Note the copper grounding cable (as seen in images of Division 3- Concrete) that is protruding from the concrete at the base of the column. This will be pulled through the face brick and attached to building grounding rods by the electrical contractor.
