Dr. Benjamin Copeland (1855-1940) was a Methodist minister in Buffalo, New York, the pastor of the Richmond Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. He was also a poet, writing on inspirational, religious, and patriotic themes.
The Benjamin Copeland Papers consists of correspondence, memorabilia, printed material, and writings.
Correspondence is entirely with Bishop Adna W. Leonard. Most of the letters are accompanied by a poem.
Memorabilia consists of a scrapbook (disbound); contents include correspondence, printed items, clippings, programs, photographs, etc.
Printed material includes clippings of Copeland's poems as well as short items by others.
Writings contains handwritten and typed drafts of poems.
The scrapbook pages are in original order. Other material is arranged alphabetically.
