On December 21, 1988 Syracuse University lost 35 students from its Division of International Programs Abroad (DIPA) when Pan Am Flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland. This grief was shared by many other colleges and universities, some that lost students on Pan Am 103 and others that had not, individuals, the nation and the world. This grief is made palpable through these letters of condolence.
The Condolences Collection contains Condolence Letters and Remembrances in Prayer that were sent to Syracuse University by other colleges and universities and individuals mourning the deaths on Pan Am Flight 103 of 35 students studying abroad with Syracuse University.
