This image shows steel cable railings, with orange tell tails, which surround each opening as well as each open floor plate. These railings, as well as the wood railings also visible in the image 10, must be maintained throughout the course of construction as a preventative measure against falls.

image 10: Temporary protection and job safety.

Note the safety harness on the ironworker in the center of the picture (image 10). This safety harness must be worn by all ironworkers that erect steel. The harness has a clip which attaches the worker to the structure and/or the cable railing preventing a dangerous fall. The harness, along with all safety equipment, is inspected and updated as required by New York State Law, and OSHA regulations.
