This assembly includes rain proof aluminum louvers, bird screens, blank backup panels and sub frame construction. The architect decided to feature this assembly, due to the large mechanical requirements of this laboratory program, at each short end of the building elevation (South and North). The large louver assembly allows the mechanical engineer to penetrate the building with exhaust, as well as fresh air intakes maintaining a uniform appearance throughout the louvered surface. The specified fixed louvers must be carefully detailed to maintain their crisp horizontal pattern while under operation and throughout the life of the building.
