Exhaust stacks shown in this slide are connected to fume hoods located in lower floors are operational 24 hours a day. The stacks are designed to funnel the various exhaust gases up and away from the building and into the prevailing wind condition. The design of these stacks had to be carefully considered for volatile gases, chemicals, and corrosive conditions. Condensation and standing water elimination are also a major consideration. The stacks were fabricated out of a special stainless steel plate. The stacks were in turn sand blasted to eliminate a high reflective condition which would occur during various times of the day.
